2021 Recipients
The Orchard Park Visual Art Boosters is pleased to announce the winners of the OPVAB scholarship for the 2020 - 2021 school year. The recipients, Ava Salman, Megan Hasely, Steven Gorczynski, and James Schaffer are all 2021 graduates of Orchard Park High School and were each awarded a $300 scholarship.
This marks the fourth year that the OPVAB has awarded scholarships to deserving OPHS students.
The OPVAB, begun in 2017, is a nonprofit organization that was created to provide additional visual art opportunities for the youth of Orchard Park, fund events and field trips, promote students’ art through displays and exhibitions, and provide scholarship assistance to students who continue to pursue studies in the arts after high school.
Each of the students named above plan to continue studying art in college. Ava was accepted at SUNY Purchase, The Art Institute of Chicago and Alfred State. She will study painting and Drawing in a B.F.A. program. Megan will attend SUNY Buffalo State and major in fashion design and textiles. Stephen is looking to pursue a B.S. degree in Digital Media and Animation and James was accepted at SUNY Fredonia and the Cleveland Art Institute. He will major in Fine Arts.
After a year of “waiting out” the COVID19 pandemic, the Boosters are anxious to once again do their part to continue to make Orchard Park an “arts” community. To that end, the OPVAB will have a free “make and take” activity for children at the upcoming Orchard Park Festival of the Arts on September 18th and 19th

2020 Recipients
The Orchard Park Visual Arts Boosters awarded scholarships to 3 very deserving seniors from Orchard Park High School in June 2020. The scholarship committee was so impressed by the essays and artwork from these candidates and their commitment to the visual arts. We wish them the very best as they move on to attend college with plans to major in art and design.
